How to Consign Basics

Are your kids closets overflowing? Not having any more kids and want to bail on the maternity wear? Then read on to see how you can become a valued consignor at Silly Sprouts!

1. Empty the closets!

2a. Give your items the once over. Please make sure there are no missing buttons, snaps, zippers, etc. and that clothing items are free from rips, stains and tears. Don't worry if you miss some, we will check them when you come in. After all, we are human!

2b. Please make sure that toys/games/puzzles have all pieces/parts or they cannot be accepted. Make sure that toys requiring batteries are functional for display. Batteries can be supplied to you for a small fee.( .25 per battery) Please place loose pieces (weebles, little people, etc) in ziploc baggies. Having the directions to these items, as well as baby equipment, is very helpful and can possibly get you more $$ for your items. Please note that items that are recalled will not be accepted. We also do not accept most stuffed animals unless a popular character. (Elmo, Care-Bears, Leap Frog, etc)

2c. Please do your best to make sure that larger items are wiped down and free of dust/dirt. If items are not ready to be put on the floor when they are brought in, a 10% cleaning fee will be applied to your account. .

NEW! 3a. For clothing items freshly laundered , brought in baskets/bins, we will transfer to our store's bins and give yours back. You will receive 50% of the final selling price. There is no need to put items on hangers!! However, if you have hangers to donate it is greatly appreciated!

3b. For clothing items brought in garbage/shopping bags (because some people empty their closets this way), you will receive 30% of the final selling price. All items that are brought in this way are washed/re-washed and taken care of before being put out on the salesfloor.

4. Appointments are not required but highly recommended as we never know when and how many consignors will show up!

5. At the end of the consignment period (usually end of season) or 90 days, whichever is greater, any unsold items will be donated. We are proud to donate to Birthright of Lorain County and North Ridgeville Community Care. New to the donate list, Family Promise and Blessing House.  If you choose this options there is a $5 annual fee.   If consignors choose to forfeit their items to the shop the annual fee will be waived.  Consignors who wish to have their items returned will have a $10 annual fee. We will pull the items for you, bag them up and give you a courtesy call. You will have 7 days from that day to pick up your unsold items otherwise they will be donated.

6. Accounts are updated daily. If your balance is less than $10, you may take cash or shop on store credit. For balances over $10, please give us 24 hours notice for cash pickup. If you shop on store credit, you will receive a 10% discount on items up to your balance. Checks will not be written for balances less than $25.

7. Instead of charging a per check fee or sellers fees onto each item we go by the 3 tier system above. If a consignor is a forfeit to the shop the annual fee will be waived. If consignor chooses to donate it is a $5 fee, consignors who wish their items returned to them there will be a $10 administrative fee .These fees are once a year and can be paid at the time of sign up or deducted from your account.  This also entitles you access to "MyResaleWeb.com". This is an online tool where you are able to check your consignor account anytime! As always, if you have other questions concerning your account not answered there feel free to call 440-327-1086!

8. Final acceptance of all items is always at the discretion of Silly Sprouts. Please understand that not all items can be accepted at all times.

9. Please note that items are left at your own risk. Although rare, theft, fire and damage can occur.
